For Shaun
The
world is an amazing place it seems,
Full
of good ideas, great schemes and grand dreams,
But,
alas, all good things must come to an end.
As
the sun rises, so too must it fall
Must
we, at sunrise, despair over sun set?
Why
is it, that it is only when we take pause
On
this journey of life, that we notice the scenery?
Only shooting stars get a wish,
But such objects so bright and brief,
When gone, are not the subjects of grief.
Among the giants, here we find our own shooting star
Who has, for so long, been the apple of our eye.
Should we perchance to glance, both near and far
We find, in time, this star’s light has lit the
night sky.
Though time and time again, we find
Heavy hearts, heavy with
uncertainty.
We commit to thee, the hope that is
That this darkness is but a passing shadow,
And not the sunset.
That this is but an intersection,
A pause in the journey,
And not the last stop.
Hope is all that I can offer,
And while I believe in you implicitly,
You must find your own shooting star.
The world is an amazing place,
Made the more so, by your poise and grace
You must have faith,
For it is better to light a candle,
Than to curse the darkness.
And as the sun rises and sets
You will endure for, from within your heart,
Shines a light which would extinguish
Any darkness
