There was a notable police presence outside the town hall for the Schools Conference
Not wanting to... ahem... point the finger, so to speak... but Nicki was able to negotiate with them and calm them down
...and this is what the fuss was all about, a big bunch of school kids waving banners in front of the Melbourne Town Hall
during the day, we worked in workshops with the kids and chatted with them about human rights issues. It all seemed to work quite well and I think the kids in my group enjoyed their conference despite my apalling ability as an workshop facilitator
Here are some of the kids in my group drawing their little posters. Towards the end of the day, they started getting tired and bored and resorted to making the glasses resonate by swirling their fingers around the top edge of the glasses. It probably didn't help that I joined in and explained to them how to get different notes.
