Tree Planting

Tree nurseries are places for raising good young trees, which are then planted out where they are to grow. They can provide trees for restoration of locally degraded environments such as flood or eroded land thus helping to prevent disasters, for greening inner city areas, providing shade, protecting against the wind, and enhancing privacy. Planting trees improves soil infiltration capacity, has a positive impact on climate change as it helps capturing greenhouse gasesGreenhouse gases are the gases present in the earth's atmosphere which reduce the loss of heat into space and therefore contribute to global temperature through the greenhouse effect. An excess of greenhouse gases can raise the temperature of the planet and has the potential to prevent the loss of biodiversityNiodiversity is the variation of life forms (libing organisms) within a given ecosystem or for the entire earth. Biodiversity is often used as a measure of the health of biological systems. Moreover, growing trees provide a wide range of products such as fruit, fodder, medicine, fuel, timber, wood for furniture and tools and hence represents a source of income.

A school tree nursery further offers children the opportunity to learn about the importance of trees for preventing natural disasters and climate change, and to gain practical experience in planting and growing young trees.

Our forests are disappearing at an alarming pace and it is urgent to plant and grow more trees! DeforestationDeforestation is the conversion of forested areas to non-forest land for use such as arable land, pasture, urban use, logged area, or wasteland. Generally, the removal or destruction of significant areas of forest cover has resulted in a degraded environment with reduced biodiversity does not only have an impact on droughts, floods, soil erosion, desertification, climate change and loss of biodiversity but it is also a cause of famine and poverty as well as conflicts over fertile lands.
