Water Quality
- The quality of the water is mostly fit for direct consumption. Rainwater is normally clean, soft, and usually also has a neutral pH.
- Taps should be 10 cm above the base of the tanks to allow any debris to settle on the bottom.
- Sunlight should not enter the tanks in order to prevent the growth of algae.
- Storage tanks should be cleaned annually, and designed to protect the water from contamination by leaves, dust, insects, vermin, and other industrial or agricultural pollutants.
Do not forget to provide a tap and a hand-washing facility at the school latrine! |
